Almost 150 cars will be present at the start of the South Bohemia Classic

Shiny machines that have made an indelible inscription into motorist chronicles will be seen on South Bohemian roads on September 8 and 9, 2017. The 8th South Bohemia Classic, an international one-hundredth rally of classic and sports cars, received entries from a record number of crews, namely 143!

10 different nationalities and 31 car brands are represented in the entry list – for example Jaguar, Maserati, MG, Cadillac, Triumph, Austin Healey, Ferrari, Chevrolet, Porsche or Mercedes-Benz. The domestic production is represented by Škoda, Praga and Tatra.

The biggest event of its kind on the territory of the Czech Republic will start on Friday afternoon, September 8 from Přemysl Otakar II. Square, České Budějovice. After a several hours lasting display of classic and sports cars accompanied by concerts of Dixie Old Boys and ŠouflŠou bands, the first car will start to the 117 kilometres long track at 17:30. The road book will take the participants to Dolní Vltavice via Hluboká nad Vltavou, Svatý Jan nad Malší and the centre of Český Krumlov where a commented evening stop will be prepared for spectators. The activities in České Budějovice will be smoothly followed by an audio-visual festival “Vltava lives“ (Vltava žije) starting at 9 p.m..

Thanks to the Saturday leg measuring respectable 300 kilometres, participants will pass the Lipno Dam, drive through Novohradské hory, Austrian border area or experience the beauty of vast ponds in the Třeboň area. And the central square of the world-renowned spa town of Třeboň will host the midday lunch break. A ceremonial gala evening with prizegiving will be held in Hotel RELAX, Dolní Vltavice.

In total the crews will face 12 precision tests during these two days, mostly situated to centres of South Bohemian towns and villages. Therefore the four-wheeled beauties will be close enough to be admired by inhabitants of e.g. Chvalšiny, Černá v Pošumaví, Nové Hrady, Chlum u Třeboně, Trhové Sviny or Přídolí. Also, there will be an attractive test in the ÚAMK Driving School practice area in České Budějovice, one of the tests will be run through Lipno nad Vltavou Marina or on the roof the the Mercury Centre in České Budějovice.
